The high contrast between the indication and the background ensures easy recognition and evaluation. The fluorescence coefficient of the magnetic powder plays an important role here, but it is not the decisive factor.
In addition to magnetization corresponding to the component geometry, its flux density, and surface roughness, the mpi suspension has other critical influencing factors: Precise particle size distribution ensures the desired sensitivity with the lowest possible background fluorescence.
These standards are part of the essential requirements for magnetic particle suspension. The frequently used water-miscible mpi concentrates should also ensure that series production runs smoothly: through fast and stable indications, excellent wetting, low foaming tendency, and additives for corrosion protection and biostability.
